The Sheriff’s responsibilities are vast and varied. We are tasked with patrolling unincorporated areas not covered by municipal police forces, enforcing legal judgments such as foreclosures, repossessions, tax delinquencies and managing the county jail and inmates. This role is crucial for ensuring public safety and upholding the law.

The Sheriff’s office has several specialized units, including K-9, Special Operations Group or SWAT, Marine and Bike Patrols which all support law enforcement agencies, crime victims, and our communities. The Sheriff also provides HR 218 certifications, gun permit processing, Active Shooter training, Safe Child and Child Seat Installations. We also provide free site assessments of your religious institutions, schools and businesses.

Our operations encompass criminal law enforcement, traffic patrol, emergency rescue operations, enforcing court orders, homeland security programs, SWAT operations, civil emergency response, jail operations, alternative correctional management, courtroom security, and civil litigation process.

In summary, as your Sheriff I am entrusted with significant responsibility for protecting and serving our community. The duties extend beyond traditional law enforcement, contributing to our County’s overall safety and security.
