Did you know that there are special needs pets in shelters needing special families to adopt them? In late 2022 a 6 week old kitten with ruptured eyes was rescued and when old enough underwent surgery to remove them. His other senses kicked in and he was able to find his food and litterbox without issues. Not too many people are up to dealing with a sightless kitten but one couple fell almost instantly in love with him and after a few visits and much research, Jagger was adopted. In the home it was discovered that he was also deaf! This led to more research of which there was little to none available. Regardless, Jagger has adapted well to his home and is treasured beyond measure. This true story gives us hope for a similar future for our current special needs pets with physical, emotional and medical challenges.
~ Jenny is a spry senior feline who requires a daily pill for pre-diabetes treatment. Her owner intended to have her euthanized rather than diagnosed and treated. We chose life!
~Rosie & Posie are 2 year old sweet sister cats on a daily Cosequin capsule for their luxating patellas which are loose knees causing an ungainly gait which doesn’t detract from their beauty.

~ Paulina is a senior long haired tortie on a daily thyroid medication who dislikes being brushed but needs it. She’s quiet, undemanding but is a fussy eater.
~ Guthrie, an 8 year old tiger & white short hair needs eye lubricant three times a day for a paralyzed eyelid. He’s a bit rough looking yet is a docile guy.
~ Salem, is an attention seeking senior black short hair who needs grooming assistance with regular brushing and takes a once daily oral medication for her toothless mouth.
~ Skimbleshanks, a young, shy orange medium haired male lost his rear leg due to a long term untreated injury. No more outside “adventures” are in his future.
~ Keesha is an 8 month old blind jet black short hair with a sweet disposition. She uses her nose to navigate and will need extra time to become familiar with changes.
~ Pixel, a 10 year old female white & black short hair, has PTSD from her past experiences and needs to be an only pet with a non-demanding caregiver.
~ Goose is a 4 year old American Staffordshire terrier with trust issues due to being abandoned in a remote State park with a painful skin condition. To know him is to love him and vice versa. A single or couple adopter with the promise of car rides and pup cups please.
~ Mimi is a 10 month old 15lb. Peruvian Inca Orchid who loves to jump into laps but will protect her space and food An experienced caregiver without small children and with the know- how of proper skin care for this hairless spitfire is an adoption requirement.
Each of their special needs can be met if special people with the ability and willingness to care for them see past their challenges to just how special they really are.
