There is no entrance fee for this contest, but by December 18, 2024 the Village of Greenwood Lake is hoping that many of its residents will have opted in to participate in what has become an annual event for the 100-year-old village: The Holiday House Decoration Contest.
Village Clerk, Katheleen Holder, has set up an easy on line application process that allows residents to place their home in contention for one of two prizes, sponsored by Murphy’s Bar & Grill, a Windermere Avenue establishment known for its community involvement for decades. “First prize is a Murphy’s Tavern Basket with a gift card; second prize is an Amazon gift card,” said Holder. “If participants register by Wednesday, December 18, 2024, judges will be able to include them during the two-days the homes will be evaluated, Friday and Saturday, December 20-21, 2024,” she continued. All registered homes will be included on a map for a SELF GUIDED Lighted Home Tour.
The Village of Greenwood Lake, home of Orange County’s largest fresh water lake, has been celebrating its Centennial the whole year long and wants to continue the tradition of involving residents in a number of community activities throughout each season. Greenwood Lake [GWLNY.org] is one of the Town of Warwick’s three villages and eight hamlets, and is busy planning a number of upcoming events for the 2025 calendar year.
