Cameron Williams was Arraigned on Indictment Charging Murder and Related Counts and Remanded to Orange County Jail in Lieu of Bail
Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced that Cameron Williams, age 25, of New Windsor, was arraigned in Orange County Court on an indictment charging Murder in the Second Degree and related charges. He was remanded back to Orange County Jail in lieu of $1,000,000 cash bail, $3,000,000 fully secured bond and $10,000,000 partially secured bond and is next scheduled for a conference on December 4, 2024.
As alleged in documents filed and statements made in court, on October 13, 2024 at approximately 10:45 pm in the City of Newburgh, after an altercation, Williams retrieved several kitchen knives from a residence and approached a man who was laying on West Parmenter Street and repeatedly stabbed him to death. Subsequent investigation by the City of Newburgh Police Department developed Williams as a suspect and led to his arrest.
“The violent acts allegedly perpetrated by this defendant are unconscionable,” said District Attorney David M. Hoovler. “I commend the City of Newburgh Police for their quick response and for the investigation which led to the arrest of the defendant. My Office is dedicated to the pursuit of justice on behalf of the victim and our community. We remain steadfast in our commitment to the investigation and prosecution of violent crime in Orange County.”
The case is being prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Christopher Kelly.
This criminal charge is merely an allegation that a defendant has committed a violation of the criminal law, and it is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial, during which it will be the State of New York’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
