On Sunday October 13, the Rich Savage Soartet (a/k/a Eliot Zigmund Quartet) celebrated the release of the group’s latest CD, entitled Golden, a tribute to the “guiding light of music in the musicians’ lives.”

The session began with a brilliant rendition of Autumn Leaves, one of the colorful draws to this neck of the woods to residents of New York City and nearby communities, followed by several selections from their new album.  The quartet [EliotZigmundquartet.com] has a unique sound with a nice blend of moods, textures and feels within a unique repertoire of originals and standard tunes. They keep their jazz muscles strong and supple and have an ensemble with an original sound and an intimacy that comes from hundreds of hours playing and performing together.  The quartet is comprised of veteran NYC jazz musicians: Rick Savage, Trumpet, David Janeway, Piano, David Kingsnorth, Bass and Elliot Zigmund, Drums, who have worked and/or recorded with Bill Evans, Michel Petrucciani, Stan Getz, Tania Maria, Art Farmer, The Supremes, Nancy Wilson, Tony Bennett, John Abercrombie, Blood Sweat & Tears, Benny Golson, Sonny Fortune, Billy Hart and many others.

They are seasoned jazz educators and have performed workshops and clinics throughout the US and abroad. The Amity Gallery, tucked away in an intimate venue in the hamlet of Amity, is a beacon for artists of all kinds, to showcase their talents to a discerning audience. The Amity Gallery plays an important role in the lives of many people. It provides the local community  with interesting presentations.  It is a showplace for exhibitions of art.  It is a venue for musicians, poets, performances and theater pieces.  It is a space for emerging artists to show their work.

But of greatest importance is the opportunity it provides for members of the Chardavogne Group to practice the teachings of G.I.Gurdjieff and Dr. Willem Nyland. It operates under the auspices of the Institute for Religious Development, known locally as the Chardavogne Group. The Chardavogne (Chardavoyne) Group was founded by Dr. Willem Nyland and follows the spiritual teachings of G.I. Gurdjieff. Click on https://www.amitygallery.org/ to learn more.
