CAMPBELL HALL – Former Orange County Court Judge and prosecutor Stewart Rosenwasser shot himself to death this morning, top law enforcement officials told Mid-Hudson News.

Rosenwasser resigned in June from his position as a special assistant district attorney.

Shots were reported fired at his Campbell Hall residence as FBI agents were arriving to execute a search warrant.

Rosenwasser was hired by District Attorney David Hoovler in June of 2019.

The former judge had been under investigation for allegedly taking bribes from a former client.

Rosenwasser, who had been a private practice attorney for years, had served as a county court judge several years ago, but abruptly resigned. He went back into private practice before joining the DA’s office.
