Lifelong learning begins at a young age, and museums are a great place to spark an interest in history, science, and art. I know that it can sometimes feel nerve-wracking to take a toddler to an art museum, which is what makes Storm King Art Center such a special place.
Storm King Art Center is a 500-acre outdoor museum with large-scale sculptures set against the backdrop of the area’s incredible landscape. It’s a true gem here in the Hudson Valley that everyone should have an opportunity to visit. To that end, I was able to secure a $50,000 grant that will allow Storm King Art Center to offer all students up to 21 with valid ID free admission through 2024 and 2025. The art at Storm King is intended to be seen under the wide-open sky, which makes summer a great time to visit, especially for those parents and caregivers who are looking to for a fun and free activity for kids. The museum is open Wednesdays through Mondays (closed Tuesdays) from 10am to 5:30pm and is located at 1 Museum Road, New Windsor, NY.
Museums of all kinds open up a world of imagination and exploration to children. Exposure to new experiences fosters creativity and curiosity and broadens our knowledge of the world, and I’m thrilled that kids all across Orange County will have the opportunity to visit over the next two years, free of charge. As for now, I can’t think of a better way to spend a summer day. Hope to see you there!
