After so many years of working, providing for their families, and contributing to their communities, our seniors deserve not only our admiration and thanks, but a day of fun every once in a while! Last week, I got the chance to celebrate the senior community in Orange County at our inaugural senior picnic. This was an opportunity for local seniors to come together – enjoy some good food, bingo, and camaraderie. My team also brought together several state offices and local organizations to share resources that could be beneficial for these folks. A huge thank you to all who attended, and to my team for putting this together.
In the coming months, I’ll be going around to Orange County senior centers as I do each year, hearing directly from constituents on the state and local issues that are affecting them most, and what I can do to be their most effective representative in Albany. My team and I also have a few additional senior picnic events in the works at other locations across the county – stay tuned!
Ensuring folks from all walks of life – regardless of age – have a voice and a seat at the table is a critical part of my job as your state senator. It’s one I never take for granted. If you need a hand navigating agencies, receiving benefits you’re owed, or finding resources to improve your quality of life, don’t hesitate to be in touch with my office and we’ll be glad to assist.
