Golden Hill students and teachers lined the halls of the elementary school and cheered as graduating seniors walked through in their caps and gowns for the annual senior walk this June.

A long time tradition, many seniors felt nostalgic and wondered how the time went by so fast.

“I remember watching the seniors come through when I was in elementary school,” shared Maria Garcia. I can’t believe I’m in their shoes now.” Garcia will be entering the Navy and dreams of becoming a nurse.

After walking through the school once, the seniors paired up with the fifth graders, and the school cheered for both graduating classes. The seniors gave the fifth graders a gift bag including a class of 2024 cup filled with sweet treats and a handwritten card with advice to help them on their transition to Seward. Next, they headed out to the playground to take a photo together.

“It was so funny being back on the top of the playground, joking around with the fifth graders down below,” shared Nick Perez. “I hope I make those kids proud.” Reflecting on his time in the district, he added, “I liked that it was a small school, you get close with everyone and it’s a great community.”

Some graduating seniors got to share the special moment with a sibling.

“I got to walk with my sister Mackenna. It was nice to walk the halls of the elementary school and go back to where we started,” shared Brennon McGoldrick. “We’re both moving on to new chapters in our lives.

Garcia also enjoyed walking with her fifth grade brother, Christian.

“The senior walk is a fun way to not only celebrate the seniors, but also show the elementary students what awaits them at the end of their journey,” shared S.S. Seward teacher Dominick Pascullo.
