The nation and the world were stunned this past weekend following the assignation attempt. President Trump’ responded with, “I’m not supposed to be here, I’m supposed to be dead. The doctor at the hospital said he never saw anything like this, he called it a miracle.” and he added, “By luck or by God, many people are saying it’s by God I’m still here.” Had he not turned his head slightly to the right to read a chart on illegal immigration, the bullet that grazed him would have been fatal. When Trump was shown the image of himself raising his fist while surrounded by Secret Service agents in the seconds following the shooting, he had this to say, “A lot of people say it’s the most iconic photo they’ve ever seen.” Former White House physician and current Texas Rep. Ronny Jackson, who spent time with Trump following the incident remarked that Trump has “not missed a beat.” Jackson said that the staff was quite shaken, however Trump was fired up and energetic. He added that Trump is an example of how real leadership reacts in a life and death situation and Trump was not fazed by his injury – the most traumatic effect for Trump was not the gunshot that could have taken his life, it was when he was taken into the medical tent with the gentleman who passed away…the man shot and killed during the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump…Corey Comperatore. Corey was a firefighter–– a family man who served his community, who was protecting his wife and children and instinctively fell on them to shield his family from the bullets flying everywhere. It appears blame is falling on the Secret Service however, the modern Secret Service is “stretched too thin” with new responsibilities and protectees, while its budget and manpower haven’t caught up with the times, according to a former agent and security consultant who said there were missed chances in the past two decades that left his former agency overworked. In a perfect world, you have 30 CS teams and 500 agents– the agency’s acronym for the counter-sniper team that took out the assassin. But the Service just doesn’t have those resources. Even a third of that manpower would have been sufficient. Instead, videos from the rally show just a single CS team returning fire and neutralizing the suspect as a group of agents on the ground swarmed the former president, shielding him with their bodies. Our country is in turmoil, shaken by this attempted assignation and the murder of an innocent man protecting his family. Mental illness is more prominent of late and fueling those who may be suffering is what we allow to fill our homes, the internet, in our cars on the radio, and at our dinner table. The visceral hate in every news outlet is what fuels those who may be dealing with mental illness, This horrific murder and attempted assignation is an example of how words carry weight and consequences.
Our County Executive, Steve Neuhaus had this to say…” Saturday’s assassination attempt on former president. Donald Trump is a sad example of how divided our country is, but we have always had bad people that had bad intentions the failure on behalf of the Secret Service to protect the former president was apparent and needs to be addressed. The fact that that individual got so close to assassinating a former president is a complete failure of their Duty.” Neuhaus is also a Commander in the us Navy Reserves.
Our Favorite Assemblyman, Karl Brabenec, reporting from the floor of the Republican Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin added, “”We feel very safe here. Security is at max with the Secret Service, Federal, State, and local law enforcement. It was an absolute disgrace what happened to President Trump and the individuals who died and were injured. Our hearts and best wishes go out to them and their families. The convention is completely energized. We have an awesome ticket that we nominated early Monday and with the help of the American voters, we will be successful and bring our country back to greatness!”
