The Olympic Games are always a celebration of sports where athletes from all over the world compete for the highest honors. The USA has traditionally been one of the strongest sporting nations, and at these Games, American athletes have once again demonstrated their high level. Let’s take a look at some of the brightest stars of the American team.
Aquatic Sports
- Swimming: American swimmers traditionally dominate the pool. Torri Huske won the gold medal in the 100-meter butterfly, and her compatriot Gretchen Walsh took silver. Katie Grimes and Emma Weyant also won silver and bronze medals, respectively, in the 400-meter individual medley. The legendary Katie Ledecky secured bronze in the 400-meter freestyle. The U.S. men’s team won the gold medal in the 4×100 meter freestyle relay, while the women’s team secured silver.
