A Column from the Desk of Assemblyman Karl Brabenec (R,C-Deerpark)

Before the major election in November, many registered voters are preparing for primary day on June 25. This day allows party members to choose their candidates for various offices. Although primary elections are smaller, they are crucial in shaping the future of our state and country, just like general elections. Primaries let party members select from several candidates before the final choice in November. This is the time to engage with potential candidates and ensure their values align with yours. It’s a chance for voters to clearly express their preferences and influence who will represent their party.  Primaries also allow voters to prioritize the issues they care about. Candidates set the policy agenda based on their platforms, so selecting one who supports your views is as important as voting in the general election.  Early voting began this past Saturday, June 15. To find out if there’s a primary election in your area and the polling site location, visit the Rockland County Board of Elections or the Orange County Board of Elections. If you are registered to a party, please consider voting on primary day. Voting is the cornerstone of our democracy, and our participation strengthens it.  Assemblyman Brabenec represents the 98th District, which includes the city of Port Jervis, the towns of Deerpark, Greenville, Mount Hope, Wawayanda, Minisink, Warwick, Tuxedo and portions of the towns of Goshen, Monroe and Ramapo.
