Mayor-Tom-Howle

FROM THE MAYOR’S OFFICE Greenwood Lake Mayor Thomas Howley

Local News

No stranger to local government, former Greenwood Lake Trustee since 2013, Thomas Howley, began his relatively smooth transition this week as the new mayor of that Village, although there is much work planned for his new administration.

During his first public statement, Howley announced, “I want to remind everyone that after Matt Buckley’s recent resignation I was appointed by the current Village Board to serve as Mayor for the remainder of the year. First of all, I would like to thank Mayor Buckley for his dedication to our Village and to his steadfast determination to ensure that our lake quality remains at the highest possible level for both residents and guests. I look forward to serving all the residents of Greenwood Lake in the coming months.”

Howley moved to Greenwood Lake in 1971 with his wife. After serving in the US Army he returned in 1979 when they began raising their family. For several decades he has been strong supporter of youth activities which many expect that he will continue to support throughout his tenure as mayor.

There are many initiatives going on especially during spring to get the Village ready for the summer season, starting with the Spring Cleanup that occurred last weekend. In addition there is a busy week scheduled this week:

  1. Budget Workshops and Public Hearing
  1. Workshop: Monday, April 22nd at 5:00 PM – Location: Village Hall, 18 Church Street, Greenwood Lake, NY 10925
  2. Public Hearing: Wednesday, April 24th at 4:00 PM – Location: Court House, 47 Waterstone Road, Greenwood Lake, NY 10925

Finally I want to remind residents and guests about the Centennial Boxing Match Showdown on Saturday, May 11, 2024, beginning at 4PM, at the Greenwood Lake Middle School. Several top restaurants will be providing the menu for the VIP tickets. Meanwhile, there will be a menu of hamburgers, hot dogs, and chicken fingers, and fries available, together with beverages and desserts available for general admission tickets, as well.
