THE NEW YEAR BRINGS NEW OPPORTUNITIES

News & Updates

A Column from the Desk of Assemblyman Karl Brabenec (R,C-Deerpark)

As the new year begins, legislators return to Albany and we all go back to work for another exciting 366 days. A Leap Year gives us each an extra 24 hours to do something memorable, something surprising or something life-changing that can benefit ourselves and the people around us. As we begin yet another journey, I have a simple message to the community: enjoy it! Once the holidays slow down, we all tend to slow down, too. We give up on our New Year’s resolutions, we spend less time on self-improvement or growth and we slide into our old habits that keep us from achieving what we’re truly capable of. And while we each face different challenges in getting to where we want to be, the struggle to get there is just as hard for any one of us alone. When I find myself feeling low, or when I see myself struggling to stay on top of what I have to, I ask my family and friends to help me along as I know many across our state do. If there’s one thing to keep with you after the holiday seasons and yuletide joy has left us, remember to keep at it, and keep at it with spirit and tenacity in your heart. Help your neighbors, support your friends, love your family. Humanity has the unique ability to share love in many ways, and it’s our responsibility to continue doing so for all our days. I’ll continue to do so in my life, and I encourage you all to continue doing so in yours. Assemblyman Brabenec represents the 98th District, which includes the city of Port Jervis, the towns of Deerpark, Greenville, Mount Hope, Wawayanda, Minisink, Warwick, Tuxedo, and portions of the towns of Goshen, Monroe, and Ramapo.
