GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Warwick hosted the OCIAA cross country championships at Sanfordville Elementary School on Oct. 28. Warwick’s girls team, led by junior Alyssa Dovico, placed fourth with 148 points. Two-time defending champion Cornwall won the team championship with 38 points.
Dovico placed eighth with a time of 19 minutes, 49.90 seconds. Warwick’s next two runners were Julia Schlesinger (27thh in 21:23.80) and Beatrix Wendell (29th in 21:26.90).
Earlier in the week, the Wildcats defeated Washingtonville 25-31 to capture the OCIAA Division 2 title. Dovico won that race in 19:34.
The Wildcats will be running in the Section 9 Class A championship race at Sanfordville at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4.
BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
The boys cross country team competed in the OCIAA Championships for the first time ever on their home course on Oct 28. The Purple Wave represented the Warwick Singlet with pride as they raced to a sixth-place team finish (193 points), bettering last year’s 13th place finish.
Monroe-Woodbury scored 28 points to win its fourth straight team title.
Freshman Jake Cosco was Warwick’s top finisher, placing 30th in 17:54.10. He was followed by 36- Collin Freet (36th in 18:15) and
38- Liam Astbury (38th in 18:19).
The Wave is on the starting line once again on Saturday, Nov. 4, at Sanfordville Elementary School in the Section 9 Championships. Warwick is running the Class A race at 1:30 p.m.

VOLLEYBALL
Warwick’s varsity volleyball team ended the regular season with a 25-20, 25-23, 25-22 victory over Newburgh Free Academy on Oct. 24. The team honored its seniors and their families before the match.
Adriana Nicosia led the way with 14 digs and two kills. Erin Smith had eight digs and six kills, Hallie Hansen had 11 assists and eight kills and Kelly Nevins had four kills and three blocks. Warwick (13-4, 7-3 OCIAA) plays Minisink Valley in the Section 9 Class AA semifinals at 5 p.m. Wednesday in Slate Hill.
