Warwick senior Alexandra Krasinska won the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association girls tennis singles championship on Oct. 12 at Match Point in Goshen.

Alexandra defeated top-seeded Norah Staunton of Goshen in the finals 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. Last year she lost to Staunton 6-4, 6-0 in the OCIAA semifinals.

“Alex won with a mix of power and precision,” Warwick coach William Zwart said.  “Her focus was spectacular. She displayed a level of patience like never before.  She didn’t force shots and instead waited for the right situations to carry out her game plan for each and every match.  She came back to win multiple games in which she was down by a score of 15-40.  All of her hard work and dedication really paid off.”

Krasinska and the Warwick doubles team of Clare Calandra and Anika Brezina will be competing in the Section 9 tournament this week.
