Ryan New York SportsJets and Giants fans could not be in more polar opposite positions right now. The Jets are flying high off a victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, the organization’s biggest win since advancing to the AFC Championship in 2010. The defense was stellar by not allowing the Eagles to score for the final 35 minutes of game action. Zach Wilson was… well, Zach Wilson. Nothing super amazing, but no turnovers which is the critical component. They find ways to win in spite of their QB. Breece Hall had 39 total rushing yards on the day but did score the late touchdown to give the Jets the lead for good. The defense was without their top 3 CBs among various offensive line issues. They now sit at 3-3 on the season, a position many did not see as possible once Aaron Rodgers went down with the torn achilles. Now, the lord and savior, Aaron Rodgers, is walking around with no crutches and is throwing footballs already. He is just something this world has never seen (insert mega eyeroll). Regardless, the Jets head into their bye with the biggest win of the season so far and some momentum for the second half of the year. The Giants came within a single yard of having the best upset in the NFL, but still found a way to lose to the Buffalo Bills. Tyrod Taylor was solid as the starter for Daniel Jones who missed the game with a neck issue. Justin Pugh got signed off his couch, said he had a 20-25 play limit, and played the whole game including most of it at LT after another lineman got hurt. Wan’Dale Robinson showed promise in the slot. Jaylin Hyatt continues to shine in his limited role. The offensive line looked decent which is a monster improvement over the garbage from the Miami game. The defense was flying around the field including free-agent acquisition Bobby Okereke who had multiple deflections including on that led to an interceptions and several tackles. The Giants had the ball at the 1-yard line on the final play of the 1st and 2nd halves yet scored 0 points on both drives. There was a missed defensive pass interference call on the final play, however, Big Blue had other opportunities to make that call irrelevant. They are now 1-5 and host Washington on Sunday. There are no moral victories in football. The Jets are flying high while the Giants are wondering what they need to do to scratch out a victory. These teams and fanbases feel completely different going into this weekend.   Check out my sports show: “Game Time with The Goose” every Saturday from 8:00 to 9:00 AM on WTBQ AM 1110 FM 93.5 and on WGHT Radio with co-host Zach Kruk, Sports Director of WTBQ and WGHT!
