In preparation for the Village of Warwick General Election held on March 15, Warwick Valley Dispatch teamed up with WTBQ to host “Meet The Candidate” event with questions submitted by fellow village residents and readers of the hometown paper. Interviews were recorded during WTBQ’s Free Speech Show, and moderated by the Dispatch Assisting Editor. Both moderator and the host worked independently and did not share any questions or other information prior to the event, ensuring full transparency and objectivity. All participants were notified in advance that this event will adhere to a Town Hall format and questions would not be shared with the candidates prior to the interview.
Each candidate got the opportunity to speak on behalf of themselves, their team and their campaign, and answer some questions that were submitted. While we are unable to print the interviews in their entirety, we felt it was important to provide all of our readers with partial transcripts of each one. During the first week we featured the three candidates for Village Mayor, Michael Newhard, Eileen Patterson, and Matt Sullivan in the Warwick Valley Dispatch March 2, 2022 edition. The following issue in the March 9, 2022 edition we featured the five candidates for Village Trustee.
