Parents Protest Mask Mandates Outside of Warwick Schools

Featured Articles Local News More Featured Posts

On Wed., Feb. 16, a large crowd of parents and students gathered outside of the Warwick Valley High School to protest school mask mandates. A smaller group of counter-protestors that consisted mostly of Warwick High School students also assembled at the scene and encouraged people to continue wearing a mask and to get vaccinated.

Protestors also gathered at other district schools but according to the District website, “protests were held outside and without incident.” New York State had dropped indoor mask mandates as of February 10th but that did not include schools. While New Jersey and Connecticut have both ended their school mandates, New York has left theirs in force. With pressure on the governor mounting, many believe that the school mandate will be lifted shortly after the current winter break.
