On Mon., May 31 we will honor those who lost their lives in defense of our Nation. There will be a Cemetery Service in the hamlet of Pine Island at 9:00 a.m., sponsored by The Polish Legion of American Veterans Post 16. Nicholas P. Lesando, Jr. American Legion Post 214 will hold their annual Memorial Day Parade, stepping off from Warwick Village Hall at 11:00 a.m. The Village of Florida will start off the day by visiting cemeteries for a salute to honor those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice, then follow up with a modified service at the Veterans Monument on Main Street at 11:00 a.m. The American Legion in the Village of Greenwood Lake will have a service at 2:00 p.m. Please find time in your day to attend one of these observances.
A Too Good to Toss event will be held on Sat., June 12, and Sun., June 13 at participating households throughout the Town and Village of Warwick. Too Good to Toss has been an annual non-profit volunteer-run event in Warwick since 2017 that aims to keep perfectly good items out of landfills. This year, due to the pandemic, there will be a modified swap event where up to 100 Warwick households will bring their items that are Too Good to Toss outside of their home for “shoppers” to take away. While it won’t be held on the basketball court in Stanley Deming Park as in the past years, the goods are still free! The next Household Hazardous Waste collection event is scheduled for Sat., June 5, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Port Jervis High School lower parking lot, located at 10 Route 209 in Port Jervis. Please adhere to the following COVID-19 protocols: Only one person per vehicle is recommended; Show proof of ID through a closed window; If possible, please leave containers in the back trunk or truck bed of your vehicle; Please be advised that containers will not be returned.
