I would like to thank the Warwick Valley Gardeners for the beautiful plantings in the pots and in the circle at Town Hall. They will be maintained all summer by dedicated volunteers that brighten every visitor’s trip to our municipal building. Thank you, Warwick Valley Gardeners!
I am pleased to announce that the Nicholas P. Lesando, Jr. American Legion Post 214 will hold their annual Memorial Day Parade on Mon., May 31, stepping off from Warwick Village Hall at 11:00 a.m. The parade, cancelled last year due to Covid, honors the men and women who have lost their lives in service to our Nation. Please plan to join in honoring these heroes.
In preparation for this year’s Memorial Day observance scouting troops from throughout our Town will be placing flags on the graves of fallen Veterans. This task used to fall solely on the shoulders of our living Veterans, but a few years ago scouts were challenged by Veteran Walter Parkinson to take up the mantle, and they gladly have done so. We are so very proud of these young people.
With the National decision to remove the necessity for vaccinated citizens to wear a mask (hopefully NYS follows shortly), it is more important than ever to get vaccinated. Orange County and St. Anthony’s Hospital continue to schedule walk-in vaccination sites, so please do your part. If you know of any homebound resident, call Orange County at (845)-615-3700 and they will send a team to administer the vaccine.
In anticipation of opening the pools at the former Kutz Camp this summer the Town is seeking young men and women as certified lifeguards. If interested please call 986-1120, ext. 241, to find out how to apply for this great summer employment opportunity.
The next regular meeting of the Town Board will be held on Thurs., May 27, at 7:30 p.m. in the Warwick Town Hall, 132 Kings Highway. Meeting can be viewed live on the Town of Warwick YouTube channel.
