The Town of Warwick has declared Fri., Apr. 30 as Arbor Day in the Town. Arbor Day was first observed in 1872 and is celebrated all across our Country. Please join our Tree Commission and the Warwick Valley Gardeners at 9 a.m. out at Union Corners Park near the dog park area to plant a beautiful crab apple.
Now is a perfect time to plant a tree as the ground is warming up and the cooler days allow the tree to get acclimated before the summer heat arrives. Trees also clean the air and help mitigate the rise in temperature we have seen these past few years. We have many local nurseries and garden centers/farm markets where you can purchase just the right tree for our region.
I want to thank the Warwick Historical Society whose volunteers cleaned and spruced up one of our many small historic cemeteries. This one on Denton Lane holds the remains of many of our early families who made lasting contributions to our community. Everyone should know the Warwick Historical Society is a not for profit that does not receive any funds from either the Town or Village of Warwick. They rely solely on membership and contributions from you. Please consider joining the Warwick Historical Society today. For more information call 986-3236 or visit www.warwickhistory.org.
In anticipation of opening the pools at the former Kutz Camp this summer the Town is seeking young men and women as certified lifeguards. If interested please call 986-1120, ext. 241, to find out how to apply for this great summer employment opportunity.
The next regular meeting of the Town Board will be held on Thurs., May 13 at 1 p.m. in the Warwick Town Hall, located at 132 Kings Hwy. in Warwick. Meeting can be viewed live on the Town of Warwick YouTube channel.
