On Sat., May 8, Sophia Bott celebrated her 108th birthday at home in Greenwood Lake with her daughter, Ronnie Avery, & other family & friends. The party which started outside with a caravan of cars was led by Greenwood Lake Mayor Jesse Dwyer & Village Trustee Katheleen Holder. Following were members of the senior center, along with members of police dept., fire dept. & ambulance corp. The drive by caravan shouted their best birthday wishes, blew their horns, waved, & put on sirens (if they had one). After that Ladies of the Catholic Daughters came in carrying large balloons & birthday signs as Sophia sat in a chair watching with her daughter Ronnie. Some other friends & family members were also enjoying the birthday celebration. The birthday blessing was given by Father Gus Badgley & Father Bob Sweeney of the G.L .Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Holding the cake for Sophia to blow out the candles are Lina Dulgerian, Sophia’s Eucharist Minister & Christine Purdy, Sophia’s Home Health Aide, who is also Lina’s sister.
