Hello Florida,
I’d like to use this week’s column to make everyone aware that around our area particularly this time of year we have many farmers with large slow-moving equipment using the roads to get from one field to another in planting, spraying or preparing fields for the season.
The increase of population in our region from other areas has of course brought more cars and traffic into the region. New residents may be unaware of our rich and active agricultural heritage here in Florida and every year I see people who drive recklessly around farm machinery which is why I’m urging everyone to slow down and use caution when behind or passing farm equipment while driving.
Farming is a tough business to make a living and with so many obstacles facing our local farmers in having a successful growing season a damaged tractor or sprayer that needs to be repaired due to a car impact is something that they don’t need so please drive carefully this season.
