Hello Florida,
It’s that time of year again where we all need to be bear aware. Our large furry neighbors are out and about in the village and we must do what we can to avoid any unnecessary conflicts with them. Garbage cans and food are of course some of the biggest temptations for black bears in our neighborhoods.
The New York State Dept. of Environmental Conservation has many tips and practices on their website to help you avoid human/bear conflicts this year. If you or one of your neighbors is having encounters that are “too close” please visit https://www.dec.ny.gov/animals/6995.html for more information.
We live in a truly great place where we can enjoy some of nature’s most amazing animals right in our own backyards. We must learn to live with our wild neighbors and do what we can to make sure that we all thrive going forward.
