Mayor Dwyer: Kudos to Greenwood Lake Fire Dept.

News & Updates

Tragic Fire Takes Two Homes

A devastating fire roared through two neighboring homes in Forest Knolls on Friday. Thankfully no one was injured and miraculously, in a very tight neighborhood with dry woods surrounding, no other damage was sustained. Though the log cabins were lost, I would like to give credit to the fast-acting, hard-working and brave firefighters from seven agencies who helped battle the blaze.

Leading the effort was the Greenwood Lake Fire Dept., aided by Warwick, Chester, Monroe, Sloatsburg, Tuxedo and West Milford Fire Departments. Also present assisting in the operation were the Greenwood Lake Ambulance Corps, Warwick Police and Orange & Rockland Utilities. Thank you all for your dedication to our community’s safety. Currently there is no information on the needs of the family. We will try to keep all posted if anything is needed in the future.

Operation Clean Sweep a Huge Success!

Many thanks go out to the GWL Chamber of Commerce and all the volunteers and local businesses who participated in this past weekend’s Operation Clean Sweep. Thank you to the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce and Michael Johndrow for spearheading the town-wide cleanup.

Morahan Waterfront Park and GWL Beach Passes Going on Sale Soon

The Village of Greenwood Lake will soon begin selling passes to the town-owned park, now managed by the Village of Greenwood Lake. Passes will be available for purchase online at our website at www.villageofgreenwoodlake.org soon. Please check the website for updates. Beach passes will only be sold to residents of the Town of Warwick, which includes the Villages of Greenwood Lake, Warwick, and Florida as well as those residing in Pine Island, Amity and any other part of the town. We hope you will consider enjoying OUR town park with your Greenwood Lake neighbors. Guest passes will be available for non-residents who are accompanied by a resident. All fees will remain the same as last year.

Effective immediately, the park is now an approved passive boat launch and landing site. You may launch, land, or park your paddle boards, kayaks, or canoes right at the park and enjoy the park, or even walk downtown to enjoy lunch. You may only launch and use the park with passive boats outside of beach season and may not use it during summer months. Motorboats may not pull up to the park and passive boats may not be left overnight.
