Now in its second year Outdoor Dining kicked-off on Fri., May 14 on Railroad Ave., and Main and Spring Streets in the Village of Warwick. These roads will be temporarily closed Friday and Saturday evenings from 4:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday afternoons from 12 noon to 4 p.m.
Many residents and visitors enjoyed dining this weekend at participating restaurants. Among those visiting the Village of Warwick on Sat., May 15 was Congressman Lee Zeldin, a republican from eastern Long Island who is running for New York Governor in 2022.
Zeldin, joined by Orange County Republican Chairwoman Courtney Canfield-Greene, Assemblyman Karl Brabenec and State Senator Mike Martucci, met with residents and business owners. Among one of their many stops was Yesterdays restaurant.
While at the restaurant, Assemblyman Karl Brabenec addressed a small group saying, “For the years I have served in the legislature we are constantly trying to help our constituents and agencies cut through the red tape. People are trying to get unemployment now and it’s an absolute nightmare. There are major issues in New York and it’s because of the lack of leadership in the Executive Branch. We need to change that next year and Lee is the guy to do it.”
Congressman Zeldin has been traveling throughout the State since he announced his run for Governor in April. He said that he met many people who expressed that they are upset with the direction of New York State.
“People want to turn things around in Albany,” said Congressman Zeldin. “I enjoy serving in the house. I am not looking for an excuse to leave Congress. I am in this race for Governor because I believe in the need for us to save the State.”
Zeldin thanked John Christison, owner of Yesterdays restaurant, for hosting him. He also spoke about the strong sense of community in Warwick and how he enjoyed visiting its vibrant downtown.
