More and more vaccines are arriving in our area. I am urging everyone who is eligible to register at vaccination.orangecountygov.com or the NYS “Am I Eligible” link. If you are a senior you can also call the Office for the Aging for assistance at (845) 615-3700. Cases in Orange County are up due in part to our County not getting enough vaccines, but that is changing. It is more important than ever to wear your mask, keep your distance and wash your hands.
Once again, the Town of Warwick has been designated a Tree City by the Arbor Day Foundation. This reflects the hard work of our Tree Commission under the leadership of Karen Emmerich. Arbor Day is celebrated in the U. S. each year on the last Friday in April, this year on Apr. 30. The Town, in cooperation with the Warwick Valley Gardeners, will be planting two London Plane trees at Union Corners Park.
The Town Board has declared April “Prevention of Animal Cruelty” month in the Town of Warwick to underscore that the welfare of animals consists of the five freedoms – freedom from hunger, thirst and malnutrition; freedom from fear and distress; freedom from physical and thermal discomfort; freedom from pain, injury and disease; and freedom to express normal patterns of behavior. Please visit the website of the Warwick Valley Humane Society at wvhumane.org for more information.
The next regular meeting of the Town Board will be held on Thurs., Apr. 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the Warwick Town Hall, 132 Kings Hwy. Meeting can be viewed live on the Town of Warwick YouTube channel.
