The Warwick Valley Central School District took a major step toward getting more students back to full in-person learning by hosting a pop-up COVID-19 vaccination clinic for employees on Sun., Feb. 28. In partnership with Sun River Health, 300 District employees received their first dose of the Moderna vaccine at Warwick Valley High School. Employees were temperature scanned upon entering the high school. After checking in, employees received injections at one of seven stations in the new gymnasium. Employees will receive their second dose on Mar. 28.
“This would not have been possible for us without Kathy Brieger (Executive Director of Sun River Health’s Planetree Institute and Chief of Clinical Strategy and Research) and the Sun River Health leadership,” Dr. Leach said. “I also want to thank the staff and volunteers who helped make the event a success. Our staff did a phenomenal job moving folks through.”
WVCSD has partnered with Sun River Health for several programs, including the Warwick Area Migrant Committee-Dulce Esperanza summer enrichment program. Sun River Health is a network of 43 Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) providing primary, dental, pediatric, OB-GYN, and behavioral health care to over 245,000 patients annually.
