Letters to the Editor News & Updates

Editor,

I am writing in reference to the letter to the Warwick Valley Dispatch by Ms. Diltz regarding the January 6 riot at the Capitol. She states that those traveling there to protest a “Shocking election” result are patriots. She and her husband went by Amtrak.

What she fails to mention is the following: The shocking election results are only shocking to those who believe the election was rigged. This “rigged” election is based on the false premise of the loser of the election who has nothing to back it up.

Over 60 court attempts were thrown out by both liberal and conservative judges. Our Homeland Security has declassified a report stating that Putin has used Trump partisans and Rudy Giuliani to spread lies about Biden dealing with the Ukraine and nonsense about Venezuelan tampering with voting machines in an attempt cast doubt on the election results.

Ask yourself this: Putin has openly admitted that he wants Trump to be our POTUS. Why do you think this is? Because he wishes the United States well? Or how about that he understands with Trump in the WH, he will continue to provoke deep discord within and that this discord is the way to weaken our nation.

I would not characterize those who attended the Jan. 6 demonstration so much as patriots but as useful idiots for a foreign dictator who does not wish us well and is only too happy to see one of the pillars of our democracy face ruin. And the term “useful idiots” is being kind. I could use a much harsher word which begins with “t”.

As for the total innocence of those attending from this area: a local Warwick resident said he did not enter the Capitol but “would have participated had they brought out VP Pence” whom they wanted to hang. In addition, eight men from the Hudson Valley now face charges associated with the Jan. 6 insurrection. And there are locals, former members of the Oath Keepers, who to this day try to blame the riot on Antifa no matter how that has been proven false.
