Mayor Dwyer: Our Winter Wonderland

Local News News & Updates

It seems every few years we are fortunate enough to see the massive water body in our backyards freeze. This year, Greenwood Lake froze “safely” enough for many different types of winter activities including ice fishing, snow-shoeing, ice skating, snowmobiling and of course, regular hiking by foot. As a local government, we are limited in our ability to say the ice is safe or unsafe, but after this week’s rain, I can assure you, the lake is very much unsafe at this point. Thankfully now we can look forward to spring and another amazing year in our beautiful lake community.

Executive Order 203

The Village Police Department has been working on fulfilling our obligation under Governor Cuomo’s Executive Order 203, which requires police departments and local governments to conduct a thorough review and policy update (where needed) to combat racism within police departments. The draft plan is located on the Village’s website at www.villageofgreenwoodlake.org for public comment and we have gone as far as opening a public hearing on the issue. All comments received by email will be included on the record and you may email mayor@villageofgreenwoodlake.org to incorporate your thoughts or comments on the subject.
