Mayor Dwyer: Busy Year Planned for 2021!

Local News News & Updates

We hope to make up for lost time by having a great 2021! As more and more of our society opens back up for business, we are excited to begin planning the year ahead.

Work is beginning at the new “Common Ground Community Garden” located on Poplar St. A committee has been formed to begin planning a lakeside farmers market at the Waterfront Park during the Fall. The GWL Chamber of Commerce has begun accepting vendor applications for the highly anticipated Street Fair which will take place on Sat., June 12. The Hudson Valley’s best fireworks display and Independence Day Parade will be Sat., July 3 and we are hosting the Mid-Hudson St. Patrick’s Day Parade in GWL on Sun. Sept. 19 (halfway to St. Patrick’s Day). We are also planning an incredible summer concert series this year, spearheaded by Village Trustee Katheleen Holder, as well as yoga and exercise programs right at the lake!

Goose Management Program

Several years ago, a committee was formed to help with the issue of goose overpopulation in our area. The committee is committed to using humane tactics to make our community less desirable for geese populations. Two critical tactics are egg addling and the dog walking programs. The committee seeks qualified dog owners and their four-legged companions to essentially keep the geese off of our public parks. If you are interested in assisting the Committee for Humane Geese Control please email GWLGeese@outlook.com. There is a hotline if you know of a nest that may need addling (safe removal of eggs) 845-857-5178.
