Warwick Boy Scout Sebastian Brand of Troop 45 presented an Eagle Scout project proposal to the Warwick Town Board on Thurs., Mar. 11. Brand proposed creating color coordinated markers and maps of the Wickham Woodlands area that include the length and mileage of the frequently used trails located in the park.

The project also includes placing three plexiglass enclosed maps throughout the facility at the park entrance, parking lot and by the former shooting range. The Board fully supported and approved the Eagle Scout project and anticipates it will be completed sometime this summer. Town of Warwick Supervisor Michael Sweeton said he would put the DPW and the Park Commissioner in touch with Brand for additional guidance.

Covid-19 Vaccine Information

Supervisor Sweeton reported that updated Covid-19 vaccine distribution information has been posted to the Town website, www.townofwarwick.org. The information is available in English and Spanish.

Residents are encouraged to sign up on the county website at: www.vaccination.orangecountygov.com.   Sweeton advised residents to sign up with Orange County as it is receiving more vaccines that are being administered in Goshen. Local CVS and Walgreen stores may also have vaccines available.

Vaccines are currently available to anyone aged 60 and over. Starting Wed., Mar. 17, all government employees, including Highway and Dial-a-Bus workers, will be eligible for a vaccine regardless of age.

WV Humane Society Membership Drive

The Warwick Valley Humane Society’s annual membership drive is now underway. This year, the support of the community is especially important due to the lack of fundraising events in the midst of ongoing COVID-19 restrictions. The shelter is operated by volunteers and relies upon the support of membership and donations to continue its operations. Currently the Humane Society has six dogs, 59 cats, two rabbits and three guinea pigs awaiting a permanent home.

To become a member and obtain an application, visit www.wvhumane.org or their Facebook page. A Senior membership is $25 and individual memberships are $50. For additional information call 986-2473.

“We are going to make every effort to make that facility available to us this year,” Kowal stated.

Supervisor Sweeton reported that receipts collected in the month of February were $96,983.19, bringing the total fund balance to $4,240,628.88.
