As the adage goes, be careful what you wish for. While some relish the thought of a snowstorm bringing in two or more feet of snow (my family and I included!), there are those who must work in those conditions. Hospital workers, food services, first responders, snow removal crews and so many more. These folks are forced out of their homes and required to, in many cases, drive far distances to serve a vital function of our society no matter the weather conditions. With that, for those who are NOT obligated to go to work, or, have the means to stay off the roads during those times, your support is greatly needed. Non-essential travel creates dangerous conditions for those traveling for essential purposes. It also creates an unsafe working condition for those responsible for cleaning up the snow and keeping our roads safe.
It looks like we’re having a great winter for those of us who love winter. Hopefully the ice continues to build on the main part of the lake and we begin to see ice fishing, show shoeing, cross country skiing and snowmobiling. Another reminder to be very careful if you decide to go out on the ice. Your choices not only endanger yourself, they may endanger the lives of those tasked with rescuing you.
