On Sat., Feb. 13, the Warwick Friendly Visitor Program (FVP) held a volunteer appreciation event at Warwick Town Hall. During the event volunteers were asked to stay in their car with a mask on and were handed a bag of goodies including the always essential hand sanitizer and face masks which were donated by Jewish Family Services of Orange County and Office for the Aging of Orange County. They were joined by Warwick’s Town Clerk Eileen Astorino and Office of Aging’s Sherry Zambrzycki.
The Warwick Friendly Visitor Program is committed to helping neighbors in need. In the month of January, the program received 122 calls asking for assistance. The FVP provided a total of 274 services for the month. These services ranged from wellness calls, to doctor’s appointments and grocery shopping. One hundred percent of the requests that were called in were filled by volunteers.
For those interested in becoming a volunteer, virtual training will be held on Feb. 25, Mar. 9 and Mar. 25. To make a reservation, call Jewish Family Services at 845-341-1173 ext. 305.
