The Village of Florida Department of Public Works (DPW) is asking for some assistance from residents as the installation of their street light LED conversion comes to an end.

In his monthly report, Trustee Craig Olejniczak requests that when residents are walking or driving around the Village if they can keep an eye out for any LED lights that may not be lit.

The Village has taken responsibility from Orange and Rockland Utilities for their streetlights since the conversion. Members of the public can contact the Village Clerk at 651-7815, if they notice any LEDs lights that are not lit in the Village.

In his report, Olejniczak also asked if residents could help out the Village by making sure not to shovel or blow snow onto Village streets. Olejniczak additionally wants to remind residents not to flush disposable wipes down the toilet as they cause damage to the Village’s sewer system and pumps.

Christmas Tree Pick-up

If residents are looking to get rid of their Christmas tree, they can put the tree near their street at any time. The DPW will be making rounds to pick up trees and properly dispose of them.

Grievance Night

For residents who have any tax grievances, they can fill out a grievance form that is posted on the Village’s website. They must submit their grievance by Tues., Feb.  16 at 4 p.m. The Village will be listening to any grievances on Feb. 16 from 4 to 8 p.m. Residents can either go in-person or submit their plea in writing.

Next Meeting

The next Board meeting will be held on Wed., Feb. 3 at 7:30 p.m. on Zoom. For more information visit the Village’s Facebook page.
