News & Updates

By Katie Bisaro

The Village of Warwick will hold a joint public hearing with the Town of Warwick to consider the annexation of a small sliver of land from the Town to the Village as part of an adjustment to the tax map and in relation to the proposed Village View Estates development. At a previous Village Board meeting, Mayor Michael Newhard pointed out that the annexation would be considered regardless of the status of the proposed Village View development.

The public hearing will take place on Thurs., Jan. 14, 2021, at 7 p.m. at Warwick Town Hall, located at 132 Kings Hwy. in Warwick, where public commentary will be heard.  Any written communication must be addressed to the Village or Town Boards and received prior to the public hearing.

Mayor Pays Tribute to Michele Carter

Mayor Michael Newhard bid an emotional farewell on behalf of the Board to long-time Warwickian Michele Carter who passed away on Thurs., Dec. 3 at the age of 87. As a close friend of his late mother and his family, Newhard had fond memories of Mrs. Carter growing up and described her as a “real role model for us all.” She served on the Sesquicentennial Committee as the “elder stateswoman” and was an integral part of the Warwick Food Pantry who tirelessly organized the ongoing activity of the pantry as well as the large activities such as the Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets.
