Hello Florida,
Santa made a trip through the Village over the weekend with his friend Elmo to spread some Christmas cheer to all the children of Florida! The socially distant event couldn’t have been done without all his Florida Fire Department helpers driving him through the streets. It was a great thing to see and I want to thank the Fire Department volunteers for all of their hard work and the effort they put in to making this happen for the Village of Florida residents.
Due to Christmas and New Year’s Day both falling on consecutive Fridays, the DPW will be collecting recyclables on Thurs., Dec. 31. Please place your recyclables out no earlier than the night before. With our first snowfall arriving last week, I’d like to mention again that there is no overnight parking on Village streets until Apr. 1. This law is in place every year to assist our DPW’s snow removal efforts. Snow removal on sidewalks is the responsibility of the homeowner. Please pass this information along to your neighbor if they are new to the Village and this is their first winter here.
Village Hall will be closed this week due to COVID-19 related cleaning requirements. We will be back on Mon., Dec. 28 continuing with appointments only for the public. I apologize for the inconvenience but this is the best way to protect the public and staff during these trying times.
Have a safe, healthy and Merry Christmas to all and let’s all look forward to 2021 on the horizon with hopes of a new year and new possibilities.
