Mayor Harter: Not Out of the Woods Yet

News & Updates

With the weather turning colder and days becoming shorter we will be spending more time indoors. The rising cases of COVID-19 in our area reminds us that we are not out of the woods yet. We all must continue to take precautions recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) while we head into the holiday and winter season this year.

Wearing masks, social distancing, washing hands and staying home if not feeling well are all simple yet effective ways to help keep the infection rate down. I think we are all suffering from “COVID fatigue” at this point but we all have to push through this and we will get to the light at the end of this dark tunnel.

I also have a few reminders this week. There is no overnight parking on Village streets. This is done every winter to allow our DPW the ability to plow snow without extra obstacles in the streets for them to contend with.

The next Village Board meeting will be held on Wed., Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Village Hall, located at 33 S. Main St. in Florida, NY. On Tues., Dec. 15 at 7:30 p.m. in Village Hall, the Board will hold a public hearing for Executive Order 203 in regards to public comment on the policies and procedures of our Village Police Department. Our policy and procedures can be read online on the Village’s website at www.villageoffloridany.org.
