The Village of Greenwood Lake is gearing up for fun and safe Halloween activities this year. During the Village of Greenwood Lake Board meeting on Mon., Oct. 13, Mayor Jesse Dwyer and the Village Board said that families can still enjoy outdoor Halloween activities like trick or treating while maintaining the necessary safety guidelines like social distancing and wearing face masks due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Parents are advised to use their better judgement when venturing out and ensure that children adhere to safety guidelines.
Several local businesses and residents have planned fun and creative ways to distribute candy safely. The Orange County Department of Health asks that anyone feeling sick should stay home and only trick or treat with the people you live with. Parents and children are advised to have hand sanitizer on hand and avoid touching their eyes, nose or mouth, especially after a cough or sneeze and before touching or eating candy.
Drive Thru Terror Trail
G.L. Boy Scout Troop 121 will host a drive-thru terror trail on Sat., Oct. 31, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The entrance to the trail is located on Vine Street at Jersey Ave. in Greenwood Lake. The cost is $10 per car entrance which will help support Troop 121.
Headless Horseman &
Grim Reaper Appearance
On Fri., Oct. 30 at 5 p.m. families and people of all ages can catch a glimpse of the headless horseman and the Grim Reaper riding through the Village of Greenwood Lake on Windermere Ave.
Halloween Curfew
There will be an 8 p.m. Halloween curfew in effect throughout the Village of Greenwood Lake for all persons under the age of 18 unless accompanied by a parent or guardian between the hours of 8 p.m. on Fri., Oct. 30 to 6 a.m. on Sat., Oct. 31 and again on Sat., Oct. 31 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Sun., Nov 1.
Holiday Basket Sign Up
The G.L Village Board would like to remind residents that the Greenwood Lake Food Pantry is now accepting donations for the distribution of Thanksgiving, Christmas and Hanukkah Holiday Baskets. Any resident from the Greenwood Lake School District is eligible to join. To sign up, visit the Greenwood Lake Food Pantry, located behind the Holy Rosary Church at 41 Windermere Ave. in Greenwood Lake on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The deadline for signing up is Sat., Oct 31.
Next Board Meeting
The next regular meeting of the G.L. Board will be held on Mon., Nov. 16 in the Village Courthouse, located at 47 Waterstone Rd. in Greenwood Lake.
Greenwood Lake Boy Scout Troop 121 will host a Drive-Thru Terror Trail on Sat., Oct. 31 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Entrance to the trail is located on Vine St. & Jersey Ave. in Greenwood Lake. All proceeds of the event will help benefit Troop 121.
