Tammy Artusa, Managing Partner at Seely & Durland Insurance, has been awarded the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation and diploma by The Institutes for successfully completing courses and examinations on risk management principles, insurance policy contracts, and coverage analysis.
The Institutes, a leading educational organization for the risk management and property-casualty insurance industry, confer the CPCU designation, which is internationally recognized as the premier credential in the industry. CPCU designees are dedicated to serving their clients and the insurance business by maintaining their professional knowledge, skills, and competence.
A strong believer in continued insurance education, Tammy now holds her seventh designation. Many of these are comprehensive, multi-year programs, requiring a great deal of vigorous work and intensive learning. The CPCU title, however, is the most distinguished of insurance designations, well-known and respected throughout the country and in the industry. Made up of eight core courses, an ethics course, and eight exams, it typically takes two to three years to complete.
Night after night, month after month, Tammy dedicated herself to online courses and study guides, taking tests relentlessly one after the other. The journey came to an end on Sun., Sept. 6, after passing her final exam. She will be formally conferred the CPCU designation at a ceremony in Orlando, FL in 2021.
“We are so proud of Tammy,” said Managing Partner Garrett Durland. “From the very beginning when she joined our organization 28 years ago, we knew she was a special, committed individual. In completing the CPCU designation, it places her in an elite class of insurance professionals and displays her dedication to her profession and the insurance industry, not to mention setting a great example for her colleagues!”
“I’ve always been a huge proponent of the CPCU designation, having attended many CPCU functions with my wife who also holds the designation,” said Managing Partner Stuart Durland. “We know how much work is involved in successfully attaining it, and how insurance professionals and company risk managers respect the designation when dealing with insurance brokers.”
Tammy joined Seely & Durland in November, 1992, as a member of the Personal Lines Department. She became a licensed insurance agent in June, 1993, before her promotion to Commercial Lines Certified Client Relations Professional in 1997, when she began handling business accounts. In 2002, Tammy was promoted to Client Relations Professional Supervisor. In May, 2019, she was named as an equal partner of the agency, joining third generation managing partners, Garrett and Stuart Durland.
