The Warwick Skatepark Initiative (WSI) Committee has been keeping busy during the COVID-19 quarantine time. They have been meeting remotely and continue to focus on their fundraising program. WSI has been accepted to work under the fiscal sponsorship of the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan (CFOS).
“This was a great step in the right direction. Now WSI will benefit from the same CFOS expertise, guidance and support as other local community charitable organizations such as Playground Dreams,” stated Committee President Pat Tyler.
The Committee is also happy to announce that a new location for the state-of-the-art skatepark has been approved by the Warwick Village Board. It will still be located in Veterans Memorial Park, however, the new site is between the little league fields and the Albert Wisner Public Library with access via the path that connects the two. This site was chosen for its proximity to parking, restrooms and the concession facility.
The new Warwick Skatepark will contain a concrete bowl, a staircase with a flatbar and ledges on both sides, a quarter-pipe, long C-shaped ledge and a large manual pad. The cost for this new facility is $300,000. Upon completion of the new skatepark, Warwick Skatepark Initiative will gift it to the Village of Warwick who will assume ownership and maintenance.
Individuals, families and businesses are invited to purchase T-shirts and personalized brick pavers. Visit www.warwickskatepark.com for information on how to order items. Donations to the Warwick Skatepark are also gladly accepted and are tax deductible. Donations can be made through CFOS at: https://cfosny.org/our-funds/fiscal-sponsorships/warwick-skatepark initiative.
The Warwick Skatepark Initiative continues its fundraising efforts for the new state-of-the-art skatepark to be built in Veterans Memorial Park.
