Athletics Return to Wildcat Country

Scholastic Athletics make a return to Section IX on Mon., Nov. 30 following a pause in New York State that began in March of 2020.  Section IX is comprised of over 40 schools from the Orange County League and the Mid-Hudson Athletic League. The leagues voted 16 -1 in favor of a plan that will re-order the seasons. Winter sports will begin on Nov. 30 (Basketball, Wrestling, Competition Cheer, Indoor Track, Boys Swimming  and Skiing)  followed by the Fall season on March 1 (Football, Spirit Cheer, Soccer, Volleyball, Cross Country, Girls Tennis, Girls Swim) then Spring sports on May 1 (Baseball, Softball, Outdoor Track, Lacrosse, Golf, Boys Tennis and Crew Club).

The fall and spring seasons will be condensed with the fall sports running in March and April and the spring season during May and June.  There will be no overlap of the seasons.   As a result of these changes there will be many firsts occurring including Warwick celebrating its first Homecoming during the Spring of 2021 (usually in the fall).  The athletics model for the year includes all levels from the middle school up through high school and is contingent on the Warwick School District being in session.
