Editor,
My heartfelt gratitude goes out to everyone who supported the Warwick Historical Society during our urgent appeal. Your donations help us in our mission to keep local history alive for everyone, and maintain the important, historic properties in our care.
We know that many of our neighbors and other businesses and non-profits are experiencing the same financial hardships that COVID-19 has brought upon us. The Warwick Historical Society is documenting the history happening every day and all around us, for today’s and tomorrow’s generations. We invite the community to contact us with photographs and items depicting today’s local history for our archives. As one of our historians likes to say, yesterday is history!
Thank you to all those who have taken an interest in the Warwick Historical Society. Thank you to our members, new and long-time supporters, without you we wouldn’t still be here, as we have been for over a century.
We are optimistically preparing for physically distanced but socially connected public tours scheduled for Sat., Aug. 29 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Shingle House Complex, Baird’s Tavern and the Old School Baptist Meeting House. We invite everyone to come and experience the history in our Town. Learn about the railroad, industries, structures and characters that fill out Warwick’s stories, and make a connection to the past.
We also invite you to get to know the Warwick Historical Society. New members are always welcome, and there is so much that we do; from education and maintaining our buildings and grounds, to our collections and commitment to the community, I hope you will come and learn more about our membership and ways you can become involved.
Thank you for making history with us!
