Supervisor Sweeton: Keep Communicating During Storm Aftermath

Local News News & Updates

Due to the extensive storm damage, we have re-opened Union Corners’ Park on the sports field side for residents to bring tree limbs and wood debris through the end of August.

As proven by the recent storm, it is clearly evident that we are on our own for 24 to 48 hours, and it is so important that we can communicate with our residents.  Fortunately, we have a 24/7/365 manned dispatch service that can be reached at 986-5000 or 986-3423. Another important service we have is our Swiftreach Home Town Alert System, however, with so many having cell phones we really urge all residents to visit www.townofwarwick.org and fill out the form.  You will be able to get phone messages, emails and/or text messages to keep you informed.

Due to our continued struggle to eradicate the COVID-19 virus and at the direction of the Orange County Department of Health, the Warwick Senior Center will remain closed through at least the end of September. Those 65 years and older are the most at risk of dying from this terrible virus, and we will do whatever we need to do to protect them.  Here in Warwick, we have had less than 25 positive cases of COVID-19 in the last month, and that is a direct result of our residents wearing their masks, washing their hands and avoiding large gatherings.  Let’s keep it up and help protect our families, businesses and especially our elderly neighbors.

The Town Beach at the Thomas P. Morahan Waterfront Park continues to be open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. for Warwick Town residents only. This, of course, includes Florida, Greenwood Lake and Warwick Village residents.  The beach area is limited to 50% occupancy, and the NYS as well as the Orange County Departments of Health have imposed strict guidelines that staff and beachgoers will need to follow, so your cooperation will be greatly appreciated. The beach is open through Labor Day so there is still time to discover the only public access beach on beautiful Greenwood Lake.  Call the Warwick Town Clerk at 986-1124 for more information.

The next regular meeting of the Town Board will be held on Thurs., Aug. 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Warwick Town Hall, located at 132 Kings Hwy. in Warwick.
