Warwick Police Make Burglary Arrest

At approximately 11:30 p.m. on Fri., July 10, the Town of Warwick Police Department responded a burglary in progress at the Pine Island Food Center on County Rt. 1 in Pine Island.  Officers arrived to find that an unknown person or persons had forced entry into the store and items were reported missing.   

  At approximately 8:30 a.m. on Sat., July 11, a 2000 GMC box truck was reported stolen from a farm on Pulaski Hwy. While taking that report, Police Officers received information from the New York State Police that they had made an arrest earlier in the morning of a male in a vehicle stolen from a business on County Rt. 12.  They also advised that the male was in possession of items reported stolen from the Pine Island Food Center.  

  The male was transported from the State Police barracks in Greenville, NY to the Warwick Police Station where he was questioned by detectives.  Brayan J. Martinez, 18, of Jersey City NJ, was subsequently charged with Burglary in the 3rd Degree, a Class D Felony.

Under the terms of the New York State Criminal Reform Act, Martinez was released with an appearance ticket to appear in Town of Warwick Court on a later date for arraignment. 

According to Police, the GMC truck was located damaged in a ditch, in the area of where the car was reported stolen. The investigation into the theft of the truck as well as other incidents reported since the release of Martinez, are under investigation by the Warwick Police Detective Unit.
