As we approach the celebration of the birth of our Nation, we find ourselves facing so many challenges – a pandemic, a collapsed economy, high unemployment and an apparent devaluing of human life. Our Federal legislative process seems to be broken with neither side willing to compromise on anything that will move our Country forward. Yet, when you reflect on how the colonists came together, pledged everything they had and compromised on issues they knew would cause future problems in order to establish a system of government of the people, by the people and for the people, you cannot help but be inspired. We are strong and resilient people. We are compassionate and caring. We are not afraid to do the hard work it takes to move this amazing Country forward. We will prevail. Happy 4th of July!
Our community lost a truly remarkable person in Amy Lawlor. Amy was generous, compassionate, kind-hearted and a mother to not only her own amazing children but to so many others she touched, including my daughter. She had a musical talent that lifted your spirits no matter what troubled you. She was always looking for ways to pitch in to help others. Her family, hopefully, can take some comfort in knowing she is leading many voices in joyous song in heaven above. We will all miss you, Amy. RIP.
The Town Beach at the Thomas P. Morahan Waterfront Park opened on June 6 and is now open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. for Warwick Town residents only (this, of course, includes Florida, Greenwood Lake and Warwick Village residents). The beach area is limited to 50% occupancy initially while the Town and Village monitor how beachgoers observe our social gathering regulations. Season passes can be obtained from the Warwick Town Clerk by calling 986-1124. The NYS and Orange County Departments of Health have imposed strict guidelines that staff and beachgoers will need to follow, so your cooperation will be greatly appreciated.
The next regular meeting of the Town Board will be held on Thurs., July 16, at 7:30 p.m. in the Warwick Town Hall, 132 Kings Highway.
