Supervisor Sweeton: Enjoy Summer Safely

News & Updates

For Town information log on to www.townofwarwick.org  or tune to Cablevision Municipal Channel 21.

Summer is upon us, and it will certainly be unique in this time of health concerns. We in Warwick, however, are blessed with an abundance of things to enjoy. Our extensive system of parks, nature trails, like the wildlife sanctuary on Oil City Rd. or the Appalachian Trail, and waterways like the Wallkill or Wawayanda all provide opportunities for you to enjoy time safely with your family. Magnificent Greenwood Lake offers a myriad of water sports, and the Town Beach is one of the most beautiful spots from which to enjoy the lake.  Our three Villages and many hamlets are each unique with so many wonderful shops, restaurants and entertainment albeit in different forms than we might be used to. Our small businesses have all gotten creative and have many new surprises to share with the inquisitive consumer. All of this will combine to make this summer special and one to remember, if we only embrace it. This crisis has given us time to reflect on what is truly important and has hopefully made us cherish those we love the most.  So, get out around the Valley and enjoy!

Please tune into WTBQ 1110 AM/93.5 FM each Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. as Assemblyman Karl Brabenec and I discuss happenings around our State, County and Town on the Roundtable.

The Town Beach at the Thomas P. Morahan Waterfront Park opened on Sat., June 6 and is now open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. for Warwick Town residents only (This, of course, includes Florida, Greenwood Lake and Warwick Village residents). The beach area is limited to 50% occupancy initially while the Town and Village monitor how beachgoers observe our social gathering regulations.  Season passes can be obtained from the Warwick Town Clerk by calling 986-1124. The NYS and Orange County Departments of Health have imposed strict guidelines that staff and beachgoers will need to follow, so your cooperation will be greatly appreciated.

The next regular meeting of the Town Board will be held on Thurs., July 16 at 7:30 p.m. in the Warwick Town Hall, located at 132 Kings Hwy. in Warwick.
