This Wed., July 1, the Village will be treating the arms of the lake with an herbicide “Clipper.” This herbicide specifically targets invasive and non-native plant species throughout the lake. The only restriction associated with this herbicide is a 24-hour swimming restriction in the areas where direct treatment occurs.
Direct treatment will take place from the 17A bridge south to Chapel Island. Then in the area of Defeo’s Marina heading north toward Jersey Ave. and Murray Rd. In addition, the Village has been weed harvesting the north arm past the 17A bridge. We are very limited in what can be done in that are because of the DEC protected Wetland areas.
The Village’s Independence Day Parade will take place on Sat., July 4 at 11 a.m. The parade will be led by our 2020 Citizen of the Year, Jack Rader, and will begin at the intersection of Jersey Ave. and Windermere Ave. and will end at Willow Ln. by Fitzula’s Gift Shop.
If you would like to watch the parade, please line up along Windermere Ave. If you are marching in the parade, line up will be between the streetlight and Holy Rosary church. We feel strongly that now, more than ever before, our communities should come together and march in celebration for all the good that our nation represents. We hope to see everyone on the Fourth!
