Orange County Arts Council welcomes percussionist, composer, band director and drumline director Dion Placencia as a member of the board of directors. He brings fifteen years of experience in music education and over twenty years in management of musical coordination of marching percussion and staffing.
Placencia’s passion for percussion has deep roots. In 1993 he became a member of the tenor line in the Spartans Drum and Bugle Corps, and in 1995 became a member of the Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps. As a music major at Keene State College, he arranged marching percussion and taught at Plymouth High School in Plymouth, MA. He received his Bachelor of Music in 1999. He is the Band Director and Drumline Director at Newburgh Enlarged City School District, Newburgh NY and a US Bands Adjudicator.
